Breast Thermography
ADVANCES IN WOMEN'S BREAST SCREENING:
Digital and ultrasensitive infrared technologies have merged with enhanced knowledge of the physiology of cancer to offer a safe, state-of-the-art thermographic screening for breast cancer. Currently, the imaging tests for breast cancer screening are mammography and ultrasound. Because they detect the presence of a physical mass, they are classified as anatomical tests. Radiologists interpret mammograms and ultrasounds.
Breast thermography detects patterns of heat from the increased circulation generated by abnormal metabolic activity of cancer cells or inflammation. Thus thermography is a physiologic test. Thermograms are interpreted by thermologists.
